Parent Meetings
Any parent or guardian of a child receiving Communion or Confirmation this year is required to attend ALL Parent Meetings.
Due to COVID-19 all parent meetings will be held in Zoom.
These meetings have a lot of information and allow you to get answers to your questions. I expect everyone to show up to the meetings unless there is a very good reason like you are working. Please be respectful of my time.
YOU MUST ATTEND THE PARENTS MEETINGS IF YOU HAVE A CHILD RECEIVING COMMUNION OR CONFIRMATION. FAILUER TO ATTEND THE MEETINGS MAY RESULT IN YOUR CHILD NOT RECEIVING THEIR COMMUNION OR CONFIRMATION THIS YEAR.
DEBE ASISTIR A LAS REUNIONES DE PADRES SI TIENE UN NIÑO QUE RECIBE LA COMUNIÓN O LA CONFIRMACIÓN. SI NO ASISTE A LAS REUNIONES, SU HIJO NO RECIBIRÁ SU COMUNIÓN O CONFIRMACIÓN ESTE AÑO.

Parents Meeting – April 23, 2022
Parents Meeting 1/9/22
Parents meeting 9/18/21
Letter to the parents:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Our Religious Education program begins on September 12, 2021 and goes through May 22, 2022 and is for Kindergarten through Confirmation. The purpose of the Religious Education Program (REP) is to provide instructions in Catholic doctrine by qualified volunteer teachers. We have a group of dedicated teachers and office staff whose primary concern is the religious formation of your children and their safety.
Keep in mind that we are still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and masks are mandatory. While we are holding in-person classes, we will follow the direction of the CDC, Bishop Solis, and Father Omar. If we are asked to return to virtual classes, know that we are prepared, and we can move to a virtual environment without disrupting your child’s education. Help us keep all our children, teachers, and parish family safe by complying with these guidelines. The last thing we want is to put someone at risk.
IF YOUR CHILD OR ANYONE IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD IS SICK, TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19, OR HAS BEEN EXPOSED TO COVID-19 IN THE LAST 10 DAYS, STAY HOME!
The Communion and Confirmation (sacramental) programs are two-year programs. If you want to teach, please reach out to Pearl Lagua (801-891-7598). Teachers get one free tuition.
In addition to formal instructions, the REP provides students an opportunity to take an active part in Mass and religious services. The participation is to help the students better understand their faith, but it can also provide a feeling of belonging to the parish and the Catholic community.
Part of this education is helping the community we live in through service projects. Children in a sacramental year (Baptism, Communion, or Confirmation) are required to complete 20 hours of community service. THE CHILD MUST COMPLETE THE SERVIE HOURS NOT THE PARENTS. We will do at least one service project in class, but most hours are things your child will need to arrange on their own time. Here are some ideas that will help your child(ren) decide what to do:
Through the joint effort of you the parent, and the REP, students can grow up with a deep conviction and an appreciation of the Catholic faith.

We will do at least one service project in class, but most hours are things your child will need to arrange on their own time. Here are some ideas that will help your child(ren) decide what to do:
- 35+ Service Ideas: This is a great website filled with service projects for kids. https://kidworldcitizen.org/35-service-projects-for-kids/.
- Altar Servers: Children can earn service hours as Altar Servers. If your child signs up for this, they will be assigned a weekend mass. They will need to attend this mass every week. This is a commitment, but they will earn all of their service hours before the end of the school year. Contact the Parish Office for training dates and times. 801-487-1000
- Blankets for Shriners: We will also have at least one scheduled service project making blankets for Shriners Hospitals for Children. We will need the help of parents in both volunteering to help the kids but also in gathering all the supplies. We will need fleece fabric that is 54” x 60” (inches) or larger; colors and designs can vary (they are for both boys and girls).
Through the joint effort of you the parent, and the REP, students can grow up with a deep conviction and an appreciation of the Catholic faith.
