Safe Environment
The Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City is committed to protecting children and young people. If you are aware of abuse or have been abused by clerics, church volunteers or church employees, contact the Division of Child and Family Services, (801) 281-5151. For pastoral assistance, please contact the Diocesan Pastoral Center, (801) 328-8641.
Reporting Abuse As an employee or volunteer, you are legally required to report child abuse if you have reasonable suspicion that it has occurred. Although every disclosure of abuse is to be taken seriously and responded to quickly and compassionately, not every allegation reaches the threshold required for reporting under Utah state law. Use the following guidelines to ensure proper reporting:
Visit the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City Safe Environment Resources page.
Safe Environment Requirements for Volunteers
All Church personnel and volunteers, who have regular Church related contact with children or young people, must complete background screening and safe environment training every three years as required by the Diocese.
